Environmental Awareness Day

North Hills West Neighborhood Council was proud to promote Environmental Awareness Day on November 20, 2021. It was a street faire providing opportunities for people to get involved in our community.

Hosted by Volunteers Cleaning Communities founder Jill Mather and Don Larson founder of the Northridge Beautification Foundation, sponsored by Councilman John Lee and Supervisor Kathryn Barger, it was held at the Chatsworth train station.

There were activities, entertainment, games, hands on projects with prizes for the children and guest speakers for the adults. Did you know that planting milkweed seeds would attract the Monarch butterfly to your garden? Or that over 2,000 lbs of ink toner cartridges go into our landfill everyday? Environmental Awareness shows us how to get on board and volunteer to make our community the best that it can be.
